Chemtech consolidates for a 2012 of expansion and new technologies

With the arrival of 2012, it’s time to take stock of the last year, celebrating the victories and the challenges that were overcome. For Chemtech, reaching its 22nd anniversary meant its consolidation as a large engineering and IT company, managing to maintain, even after so many changes and renovations, the capacity to overcome challenges and the high technical quality of its team’s work.
This technical team is now divided by disciplines, and no longer by projects, promoting the synergy between several states and deconstructing geographic limits while developing solutions all over Brazil and in several countries. As a result of the internationalization process, started in 2010, Chemtech is now the main company within the recently created sector of Conceptual & Engineering Services (CES) at Siemens, working in ventures for the German multinational corporation all over the planet. In 2011 alone, the company was represented in Singapore, Norway, China and even Mozambique. The international representations of Chemtech, in their turn, are still working in Germany, Abu Dhabi and the United States.
Back in Brazil, few companies had such a decisive role in the development of engineering and large initiatives during 2011. The FEED stages and the detailing of the Rnest project were concluded, while Cafor and Snox have reached their final stages already. Now, chemtecheans accompany in loco the evolution of the units, built from the lines designed by over 600 Chemtech professionals. This year, our team was able to engage in the challenges of the refineries Premium I and II, meet with distinction the daring deadline of the Nitrogenated Fertilizers Unit 3. It is already participating in the first projects for the pre-salt as well, offering local content in the development of new technologies.
The increase in number and size of the projects with Petrobras itself, with Braskem and with Vale was also responsible for the expansion of all Chemtech offices during the year. The company has also managed to expand its portfolio of clients, be it reinforcing partnerships or conquering new opportunities with great companies like Siemens, CSN, Alusa, Floatec, ONS and OSX, with which it signed a 3-year contract for the engineering of a new FPSO. The company has also structured and strengthened its green portfolio, working in several different segments from O&G to industrial sectors.
The year has experienced the launch of a new logo as well, which “took Chemtech out of the box,” making our logo more dynamic. We also highlight the work of our HR, with new communication channels with the employees, the conclusion of the career map and the new trainee program. In the area of health and well-being, not only were the running team and the internal tournaments maintained, but also Chemtech has reinstated the Chemtech Cup of
Soccer and brought the Summer Project to the employees, with open air activities after the work hours.
And the areas of corporate responsibility and sustainability were restructured, coming closer and promoting actions like the community preparatory courses for college admission exams and donation drives. The company has also innovated with the hiring of the current RC intern after a contest held through social media channels, and with the challenge of Environment Week, awarding employees who had proposed actions that would reduce energy expenditures within the company. Chemtech also helped culture, sponsoring the project “As 4 Estações” (The 4 Stations), which took classical music to the passengers and visitors of four train stations in Rio de Janeiro.
Chemtech kept its place in the list of “Best Companies to Start a Career”, “Best Companies to Work for in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, IT & Telecom and Latin American”, and among the “Most Innovative in Brazil”, reinforcing the maintenance of the values that have always led us to be recognized for its different organizational culture. The achievement of the CMMI level 3 certification was also considered an award, the result of the effort of the software and R&D teams.
The Research & Development team was also restructured this year, having grown and taken on highly relevant projects, be it in partnership with Bureau Veritas, or with Siemens, in the development of the Subsea Power Grid. With the R&D Center at Ilha do Fundão, to be concluded in late 2012, the research and investment actions in technology promise to gain even more relevance in the chemtechean day-to-day.
Many of these themes have been noted in the company’s career and of every chemtechean – personally or professionally – during 2011. For the year that is beginning, the commercial perspectives, the construction of the R&D Center and the international possibilities sketch out a very favorable picture for the company, its partners and clients. Prepare yourself to be part of a new era of technology and development together with Chemtech in Brazil and the world! Happy New Year!
