XHQ can gather information from the whole oil & gas production chain

Aiming at developing optimization solutions to the oil & gas field, Siemens delivers the operational intelligence system XHQ. The software discloses, in the intranet, a website on operations management, integrating production data, such as the use of raw material and equipment, stocks, as well as data on the product (temperatures, pressures, electrical current), quality and maintenance.

XHQ can integrate operations of the whole oil & gas production chain, from the upstream in offshore platforms to the products refining and distribution (downstream), including the oil and gas supply (midstream). The solution was successfully implemented in 2002 by ExxonMobil, to monitor the operation of 25 refineries worldwide.

“The system nowadays is still responsible for managing the operations in all the refining units of ExxonMobil in the world. Chemtech, while active in the system conception and responsible for the post-implementation support and maintenance, is considered by ExxonMobil as a reference in information technology applied to the industry,” says Luiz Antônio Mello, Chemtech’s Senior Manager.

Chemtech is also a pioneer in the implementation of XHQ in Brazil, in companies such as CSN and Sabesp. “We have also implemented similar software of operational intelligence in Transpetro, to monitor the whole pipeline system of the company,” says Mr. Mello.

XHQ’s great advantage is the possibility to join information from different systems (ERP, PIMS, LIMS, MES etc.) not having to reapply data, as well as enabling full information safety management. The system consolidates a corporate data model, enabling the benchmarking among several production units. This is the perfect tool for the implementation of the concepts of Operational Dashboard and Management by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
