Chemtech supports and accomplishes initiatives that promote social and economic development of the communities where it is present. The company believes in its potential capacity to promote a fairer and self-sustainable society.
One of the signatories of the UN Global Compact, it is affiliated to the Ethos Institute and a child-friendly company, recognized by the Abrinq Foundation. In addition to its commitment to clients and concern with society, it encourages cultural actions aiming at social responsibility towards the environment and sports.
Chemtech’s Preparatory School
The Chemtech’s Preparatory School is a company’s project developed by our employees. As volunteer teachers, they provide classes to students of the public school of Rio de Janeiro in such a way to help them make their way into the university. In addition to ordinary classes, the students may attend CACS (Citizenship, Current Events, Culture and Society) classes. Besides, they are supervised by Trilha do Sucesso, which is assembling a line of activity specific to them.
Polegar Project
In partnership with the UGB (Geraldo Di Biase University Center) and the Presbyterian Church Casa da Pedra, Chemtech develops the Polegar Project for a poor community in Volta Redonda, RJ. Such project is intended to qualify young people providing them with computer classes so that they may return or be included in the marketplace.
CDI
Work to aid digital inclusion in partnership with the CDI (Democratization of Computer Sciences Center) is in progress since 2004. Computers and accessories are donated for assembly at the Computer Science and Citizenship Schools, and cartridges, for recycling.
Repartir
The company supports Repartir (Aid Association for the Children of Jesus Municipal Hospital), at Rio de Janeiro, developing for them a management software application to organize the administration of the assisted children and families.
Enfermeiros do Riso
Sponsorship and development of the Happiness Nurses Website, a group of artists who visits different hospitals in Rio de Janeiro dressed as clowns to bring some happiness and attention to patients staying there.
Volunteering Actions Chemtech
Incentive and support to voluntary actions from employees. Donation campaigns for clothing, cans of powder milk, dog food for abandoned animals, blood and spinal cord are organized along the year. Besides, visits to institutions for the elderly and the visual impaired with contributions to celebrations and activities, are also organized.
Environment Awareness-raising and Conscious Consumption
Besides using recycled paper in daily activities and in all communication material, Chemtech also directs to recycling or reutilization, stationery that is no more in use. At the same time, there are lectures and advertisements with tips encouraging a reduced and conscious consumption motivated by an HSE policy (Health, Safety and Environment).
Praia Vermelha Cooperative
Users of the mental health public service at the Praia Vermelha Cooperative, in Rio de Janeiro, sell breads, chocolates, cookies and cakes they themselves prepare with fruits and grains from a sustainable plantation in Amazônia.
Support to sports
Chemtech supports the Brazilian sports and shares with the Brazil’s athletes the attitude to constantly pursuing new achievements.
Chemtech provides financial support to the social sports projects Natação no Mar para Todos (Swimming Classes in the Sea for Everyone), implemented by the athlete Luiz Lima; the project Atletas Inteligentes (Intelligent Athletes), implemented by the beach volleyball Olympic medal-winner Jackie Silva; and the project of beach volleyball on wheels, implemented by the pair Maria Elisa and Talita and the Paraplegic Association of the State of Minas Gerais.
Besides, Chemtech also counts on the competitive diving athlete Juliana Veloso as one of its co-workers.
Support to the publication of books
Since 2000, we support the publication of technical and literary books such as "Ilhas", "A Invenção da Memória", “Rio Literário”, “Jardim de Dom João”, “Anônimos Famosos” among others, aiming at fostering reading, research and preservation of Brazil’s culture.
Transparence and Ethics
The company adopts a transparent and ethical process in relation to its publics, as well as promotes among these publics the respect, transparency, ethics, environmental preservation, adoption of practices against prejudice and corruption, and disapproval of the child or compulsory labor.
In acknowledgment to the efforts made, Chemtech was granted an honorable mention from the 2004 Social Responsibility Award of the Regional Council of Engineering, Architecture and Agronomy of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CREA-RJ) and was one of the finalists of the 2007 Petrobras Award for Social Responsibility of suppliers. In 2008, we won the Seal of Social Responsibility of CREA-RJ with the project Trilha do Sucesso (Path to Success) and won two Honorable Mentions with the projects Polegar and Desafios Nacionais Chemtech (Chemtech’s Brazilian Challenges).
